Happy Halloween!!!

Helloooooo and Happy Halloween! A quick for you today.... a Halloween card, what else?! I made this card for the September Card Chain Challenge.

If you're new to this, check out  Debi's Society of Stampaholics. Basically, it's an international card swap club. We send out a card a month and receive one in return from anywhere in the world. It's fun getting something other than bills in the mail. You should try it!

This card went to Christy in California and in return, I got one from Lizzy Hill in Australia.

The focal image is from Chocolate Baroque's Book of Spells A5 stamp sheet. To create the mood background I used Distressed Inks, of course.

Sky: Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky
Ground: Fossiled Amber, Scattered Straw, Crushed Olive, Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen.

The greeting is from the Witching Time A5 stamp sheet, stamped on some scrap patterned paper with VersaFine Onyx Black and mounted on foam tape.

I stamped the haunted house with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured it with Graph'It alcohol markers. To add texture to the ground, I made little dots with a dark yellow marker. To finish, little dots in the sky with a silver Sharpie.

Tuesday Throwdown #268: Too Cute To Spook

Good morning, friends! Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown Challenge. For our last Tuesday in October, just a few days away from Halloween, we've got a fun theme for you this week: "Too Cute To Spook". We are sponsored by 2Cute Ink. Head on over to the Etsy Store to see more adorable digis by this talented artist.

I've picked two images and used them both to create a little scene featuring a cute little Cauldron Witch and couple of her kitties - Sleepy Time Kitty. Keeping the card simple with and hardly any embellies, the image takes the spotlight.

I inked up the top edge with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink and the Mowed Lawn in the bottom edge. With my Faber Castell Polychromos I coloured the images.  I flipped one of the kitties to face the opposite direction. I coloured in the grass to ground the images. To finish, I stamped the greeting from Cleary Besotted with VersaFine Onyx Black and added 3 black bling.

Here's a closer look at the little Cauldron Witch. Isn't she adorable?!

For Fido

Hello there. A very quick post from me on this wet, windy and cold Sunday evening. The clocks have gone back an hour and it's getting darker sooner. Oh well ...

Here's something I made for a friend's son. He named his new puppy "Fido", which I think is rather sweet. Such an old fashioned name for a dog.  I've used Lawn Fawn's Milk Carton die to make a dog house. I made score lines at half inch intervals on the milk and applied Frayed Burlap to dirty it up. For the roof - a piece of red card stock with quarter inch score and to secure it I used a little yellow peg.

The little frenchie is from Lawn Fawn's Critters At The Dog Park, coloured with Graph'It markers and cut with coordinating die. For the greenery I used Lawn Fawn's Grassy Border Die. I've surrounded Fido's house with a few of his favourite things: a ball, bone and a fire hydrant!

To spell out the doggie's name I used Lawn Fawn's Riley's ABC, stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black. I filled the dog house with milk bone cookies fit for a growing puppy.

Hello, hello, hello!!! It's FRIDAY.... at last, so brace yourself for another fortnight of challenges, friends! So many awesome entries in our last challenge and I know you are going to  LOVE  the new theme: "Add Sparkle, Bling and Glitter"

I made a centre step card with image, paper and digital embellishments from the Angelberry Christmas CD. The wreath and pressies are pre-coloured digi elements from the CD. For that festive sparkle, I added bling, Stickles and sequins ... just about everywhere on the the card! :)

Of course the angel is the star of this show. While she is included in the Angelberry Christmas CD, you can also purchase the image as a separate download here - Angelberry Pressies. I coloured the Angel with Faber Castell Polychromos and added Stardust Stickles to her wings and Clear Wink of Stella to her dress.

Winter Cottage

Hello, friends! I recently received an image from my blog buddy, Monika of Creative With Monika. She has a friend in Indonesia who drew and sent her this digi image of a cute little cottage all covered in snow.

Monika made a card - you can see it here - and asked me if I'd like to make one too. Well of course! Can't say no to an adorable image, can I? :)

I love the texture on Monika's card with the embossed background and pop corn pen for snow. She water-coloured the image and created a heartwarming card.

Here's my version - cool, pale and icy! Just imagine there's a warm fire inside and everyone is huddled around the fireplace roasting chestnuts, will you? :)

I coloured the image with Faber-Castell Polychromos. Very lightly I inked the sky with Chipped Sapphire. The greeting is from Waltzing Mouse's Nutcracker Sweet. This set has greetings in major European languages - very versatile. I absolutely LOVE this set. And since Monika lives in Germany, I thought a German greeting would be appropriate. :)

So as not to distract attention from the image, I used very few embellishments: silver cord and a couple of pale green blings.

Here's a closer look at the image. There are little dots of  Liquid Pearl Opal White for the falling snow. I've applied Star Dust Stickles and Distress Glitter Rock Candy on the roof. For subtle shimmer, Clear Wink of Stella on the clouds, trees and birds.  Didn't stop there! Gold and Silver Wink of Stella on the lamp post.

Chocolate Baroque: Exquisite Celebrations

Good morning, friends. I have a couple of projects I want to show you  featuring stamps from Chocolate Baroque's October release - the Exquisite Edges A5 sheet.

First up is a Christmas card in silver and green:

Ink all around a piece of white card with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink, darker on the outer edges and lighter in the centre.
Stamp a border stamp from Exquisite Edges on opposite sides of the card with VersaFine Olympia Green
In the centre of the card stamp the 3 bells from A Child Is Born with VersaFine Onyx Black
Colour the bells with Faber-Castell Polychromo pencils.
Heat emboss the edges of a larger piece of card stock with WOW Metallic Silver Sparkle EP and matt the design piece on some foam tape.
Finish by scatting some pale green bling.

For some extra shine, I applied Wink of Stella sparkle in Clear, Silver and Gold on the bells.
Challenge:

Retarte #63: AG

My second card is an explosion of colour in typical Bollywood style!  This time I've gone for bold and sumptuous colours by heat embossing a stamp from Exquisite Edges with WOW Rich Gold EP. Then I blended Distress Inks to create a rich and vibrant background - Aged Mahogany, Barn Door, Abandoned Coral and Fossilised Amber

The peacock is from the Indian Textiles sheet, stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx and coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos. To matt the design piece I used a couple of strips of metallic card stock in gold.

These stamps are perfect for stamping and embossing. As you can see, you get clear crisp solid results.

We begin our October Mini Release Party with a seasonal set called Spooky. Head on over to MHK Designers and Friends Facebook Group for more information and inspiration. Here's a look at Spooky:

My first card features that spooky tree. I kept the design simple by inking the background with Mowed Lawn and Chipped Sapphire. The background paper is from an old Fancy Pants 6x6 pad called Oct 31st.  Some black bling and the card is done. Super easy to make.

My second card is also equally simple. I've got the crow walking over the sentiment. I've matted and layered the image with Spellbinder die cuts and inked the edge with Seedless Preserve. A strip of Black Glitter Tape by Heidi Swapp and black brads by Doodlebug complete this super easy card. The background paper is a piece of scrap from one of my many (scary) Gelli plate experiments!

Polka Doodles #42: Use A Die Cut

Good morning, friends!  It's FRIDAY... and I cannot tell you relieved I am to have made it to the end of the week. Saturday beckons, but first it's time for a for a little inspiration for this fortnight's challenge: Use A Die Cut.

Here's my offering - a sweet and simple friendship card. Instead of using die cuts to frame or matt, I've decided to create a scene with die cut clouds and grass with papers from W&P 10 Country Life. The ticket tag is also from the CD.  A little inking with Tumbled Glass for the sky and Mowed Lawn for ... you guessed it - the lawn! And speaking of lawn, the dies are by Lawn Fawn. This really is a super simple card.

The star is the sweet cow and I coloured her with my Faber-Castell Polychromos.

Tuesday Throwdown #266: Watercolour

Good morning, friends! Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown Challenge. Our theme this week is "Watercolour" and we are sponsored by Freckled Fawn.  Check out their online store. They have the most adorable embellishments for all your crafting needs.

If you don't have anything by Freckled Fawn, that's ok.  You can still play along, as long as you follow our challenge theme and make a Watercolour project. I'm using the cute Silver Puffy Heart Stickers by Freckled Fawn.

I started my card with a simple colour wash of yellow in the middle of a piece of watercolour paper. Next came a very Victorian lamp from Chocolate Baroque's Hearth & Home sheet, stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx. Apart from the puffy hearts, I also stamped teeny tiny hearts with ColorBox Silver Ink. The greeting is by Chocolate Baroque, stamped with VersaFine Satin Red.

Here's a close-up of the image. I used my Winsor & Newton watercolors for the hollies and berries and some Diamond Stickles around the flame.

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello, friends! In case you haven't noticed ... it's Friday! I have a project to show you - a simple little milk carton to house festive goodies for a few friends. I'm using Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to make these.

I started by cutting some plain white cardstock with Lawn Fawn's Milk Carton die. Seriously, this box is too cute for words. With TCW Halftone stencil and Tumbled Glass  Distress Ink I created a snowy background. Next, with the Forrest Border die I cut out the trees, lightly inked it with Pine Needles Distress Ink and adhered it along the bottom edge of the entire card. Then I heat embossed little heart from Wheelie Like You with WOW Silver EP and double stamped the greeting from Winter Fox using VersaFine Crimson Red ink.

To close the box, I used a small red binder clip to hold the "4U" tag - Riley's ABC stamped with VersaFine Crimson Red. I also adhered a strip pf WRMK Pomegranate washi tape and a twine bow to finish the box.

Here's a closer look at the Winter Fox. I coloured her with Graph'It alcohol markers, fussy cut  and popped her up on foam tape. I couldn't find the coordinating die. It's somewhere in my craft room, which is looking like a war zone at the moment.

Chocolate Baroque: Hooting Owls

Hello there, fellow Chocoholics. I'm sharing a couple cards made with Chocolate Baroque's October release stamps. My projects today feature stamps from the Owl Hedges A5 sheet.

First up is a country inspired In this card, I've used the individual owls and the grassy border from  Owl Hedges  to create a scene where the owls are looking out from a crack in the side of a barn. You could easily make this a tree trunk or a wooden fence.

To create the woody background, emboss a piece of card stock with the wood grain folder and dirty it up with distress inks: Walnut Stain, Gathered Twigs, Old Paper and Frayed Burlap. Then cut it into ½" strips, ink the sides and rearrange them. Next, make a hole, adhere the strips down on grey card and add the fussy cut grassy border, also from Owl Hedges. Heat emboss the sentiment from Words of Comfort with WOW Ebony EP on a piece of vellum and adhere to the card with tiny drop of Ranger Glossy Accent.

Finally the owls: colour with Faber-Castell Polychromos, fussy cut and adhered in the opening.

Sticking with the owl theme, this time I'm showcasing the row of these cutties on a branch, also from the Owl Hedges sheet. First, create the background by masking the moon and blending Distress Inks: Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey and Fossilised Amber. Next stamp a the row of owls in the bottom edge with VersaFine Vintage Sepia. Stamp the owl again on white card, colour with Faber-Castell Polychromos and fussy cut just the owls.

To add a little movement to the background, stamp an image from the Seasonal Fragments sheet with VersaFine Toffee. Next, stamp a greeting from Birthday Words with VersaFine Habanero.

Finally, adhere the fussy cut owls to the stamped image on the card front.

CASE-ing Christmas: October

Hello, friends! Welcome back to a another month of  CASE-ing Christmas Challenge! As you are aware, we are now a MONTHLY challenge and our challenge will run from the 5th of each month at 6:00am CST until the last day of the month at 11:55pm CST.

Each month, we will be celebrating CHRISTMAS on the 25th by doing a random giveaway to one lucky participant! We will have a variety of prizes to give out, but you MUST be linked up by the 23rd of each month in order to be entered into the drawing! :)

As before, we'll give you a card to CASE and you CASE it! If you've never CASEd a card, here's what you need to do:
  • Look at the CASE card photo.
  • Be inspired by some element of the card. This could be colours, layout, image, etc.
  • Make a card based on that inspiration and link it up at the CASE-ing Christmas Challenge Blog by 11:55pm CST 31 October 2015.
Let's kick off our challenge by showing you the card to CASE for the month of October. This month you'll be CASE-ing lil' ol' me! I made this card in July 2014 - large white snowflakes and a little country church.

I was inspired by the same elements for Version 2 but I switched things around. This year I've got little silver snowflakes and a large country cottage. To make this card I used the Country Cottage stamp set by Waltzing Mouse.  I blended Chipped Sapphire and Tumbled Glass to create the sky and for the ground I used Scattered Straw. The snow is heat embossed with WOW Silver EP. I also heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger Fired Brick EP.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured it with Faber-Castel Polychromos. I masked the cottage and stamped the trees so they appear to be in the background. For that extra magical Christmas glitter I added some Stardust Stickles to all the snowy bits. And the trees were not spared. They got a double coating of sparkle with the Wink of Stella Clear Brush.
