Christmas Card Club #14: Angels

Time for a Christmas card, my friends. This week the super talented Maureen has picked a lovely little theme for us... Angels. Personally, I really really LOVE angels. Here's my festive offering for our cosy little Christmas Card Club:

I misplaced the patterned paper I had intended to use.
On to Plan B: made my own with the musical notes stamp
from CBS's Background Builder and TH Dusty Concord.
The gothic window is from CB Texture Fragments, stamped
with VersaFine Black Onyx. The sentiment is from CB Peace On Earth,
heat embossed in gold. To finish some gold ribbon tied in a simple knot.

Close up of the angel. She is from CB Family Christmas, coloured with
Graph'It and Promarkers. Metallic Gold Sharpie and a couple of red
bling help finish her look.

The sentiment is from CB Warm Christmas Greetings,
stamped with VersaMagic Perfect Plumeira.

Eclectic Ellapu: Furry Friends

Hello again, my friends. I'm back to introduce you to 2 new challenges that have started over at the Eclectic Ellapu Blog. Once again, the 2 teams - Pinks and Purples - are playing together in the same sandpit. And to make sure we don't fight, each team has its very own theme.

The Pinkies are cuddling their  "Furry Friends" and the Purplies are celebrating "Girly Birthday With Butterfly". The two challenges will run for 3 weeks and you can enter one or both as many times as you like.

It was my turn to pick a theme for the Pink Team and I chose "Furry Friends". It's no secret that I LOVE my furry family. Our current brood consists of three dogs and an all-black kitten. Each is special, irreplaceable and bring immeasurable joy to our lives. They also prevent us from indulging in a slothful (or elegant!) lifestyle by dragging us out for walks in the sun, rain, sleet and snow! They take over the garden, sofa, carpet, bed and body parts. Feeding times are frenzied, playtimes are manic and bedtimes are frantic when the need to secure one's "spot" is paramount. Vacations require months of precision planning and whenever possible, we drag the entire motley crew with us. We are on first names basis with our vet and pet food supplier.  Despite all the constant cleaning, feeding, walking and medicating... these furballs make our family... and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Here's my card in honour of our furry family:

The papers are from First Edition. Keeping it simple with just a couple of brads.

The image and sentiment are from Our Daily Bread Dog Sympathy. I coloured the sweet
doggie with GI markers: 9500, 9502, 3180, 3190. For the grassy background I used
Promarkers in Pine, Forrest Green, Grass, Sunflower and Buttercup. Did a little fussy

cutting and foam taping.

On the inside, another sentiment from Our Daily Bread Dog Sympathy, stamped with
Memento Rich Cocoa.

My little doggie will be strutting his stuff over at:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #255: Sketch
Word Art Wednesday #138: AG Uplifting
Crafting At The Weekend #3: AG
Fairytale Challenge #94: Lazy Summer Days
Fun-day Friday Challenge #56: In The Garden
QKR Stampede #94: Include A Dog Or Cat
Stampin' For The Weekend: AG ... last challenge

Now it's your turn to create and link up your labour of love over at the Eclectic Ellapu Challenge Blog. Remember, we have 2 concurrent challenges: "Furry Friends" for the Pink Team and "Girly Birthday With Butterfly" for the Purple Team. You can enter both as many times as you wish. These challenge will run for 3 weeks and you have until 11:59pm GMT on July 19th 2014 to link up your entries.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fun day of crafting! We'll be hanging out in the funny farm with the fam! :-)

And so we've arrived at the our last dance in June. The lovely ladies at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown, led by the talented Louise of Cats, Cards and Cupcakes have made have dug deep into their stash to make Christmas cards with "Charms".

Rosie's Update:
Rosie spent all of yesterday asleep and ate very little. She's on a special high-calorie high-nutrition formula. It helps with the nausea and the lack of appetite. There are oral meds she has to take, so skipping meals is not an option. The first couple of days are usually the worst. I'm confident she'll do better tomorrow. Thank you for all your loving thoughts.

And thanks for stopping by today. I'm sorry I haven't been actively blogging or commenting. With so much going on, I've focused my crafting mainly on getting my DT commitments out on time.  I'll be back tomorrow with another post for another challenge. It's marathon week for me!  Have a lovely weekend, my friends, and I'll see y'all tomorrow.

Polkadoodles #26: Red, White and Blue

What?! Is it Friday already?! Worse still... half the year is gone! I haven't been crafting or blogging much this week but they'll be frenzy of posts from me starting today.

Let's kick off the creative madness with a Polkadoodles challenge and being so close 4th July, it seems fitting that we play with Red, White and Blue. But instead of going all Americana with my project, I'm looking East with Miss Dollie Daydream.

With the help Dollie Daydream Goes East CD Collection, I made a birthday card with an eastern flair. This CD is chock full of tasteful oriental details - 12 Dollies, 210 papers, 30 sentiments AND embellishments, toppers, frames, borders, envelopes, inserts and so much more. And if you are an impatient so-and-so like me, immediate gratification is available in the form of Dollie Daydream Goes East Download.

Sweet and simple. Backing paper and digis  from the CD and
a few bling-bling to add sparkle.

Close-up of Dollie. I coloured her with Graph'It markers.
Skin: 4115, 4120, 4125    Cheeks:  4145, 4175
Hair: 9404, 9406, 9408    Dress: 5210, 5220, 5240
Obi and Lotus: 7140, 7155, 7160

LOVE this sentiment from the CD.

Some challenges for this card:

Colour Q #247: Bashful Blue, Island Indigo, Blush Blossom, Read Red + White
Sister Act #63: AG Cards Only
4 Krafty Girlz #21: AG
Word Art Wednesday #138: AG Inspirational
Paper Pretties #316: Red, White & Blue
Freshly Brewed Challenge #18: Red, White & Blue

Now it's over to you, my friends. Create a project based on the theme "Red, White & Blue" and link it up over at Polka Doodles Challenge blog by Noon (GMT) July 11th. The winner will receive a fabulous download bundle from the Polkadoodles shop AND the Design Team's Top 3 picks will get a digi each. The identity of the lucky winners will be announced on Friday July 18th. So hurry and get crafting!

Rosie's News
Rosie had her 2nd cycle of Doxorubicin yesterday. It hasn't been a good week for her, hence my absence from crafting and blogging. I'm a little worried that this course of chemo might make her feel worse. She's a trooper and a lot stronger than I am, so we'll see how the weekend unfolds.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. There'll be daily posts from me until July 1st. How I managed to get all of these projects done on time is beyond me! Thank heavens for coffee and chocolate! Have a lovely sunny day, my friends. See ya tomorrow?

Summer Fairies

Hello, my friends! This is a hurried post from me. I'm so behind on just about everything I'm beginning to panic. So let's get down to to business, shall we. I want to show you a couple of cards I made using the Chocolate Baroque's Summer Fairies Collection. It's the last in CB's trio of enchanting seasonal stamps.
The set is also available as individual DL sheets but if you buy the Summer Fairies Collection you will also get the Summer Fairies Inspiration Leaflet for free! The leaflet contains step-by-step instructions from the Chocolate Baroque Design Team for nine wonderful cards, all created with stamps from the Summer Fairy Collection. I'm super-excited to have my project (top row, 4th from the left) included in this leaflet, which is available as a printable download.

**********

My first project for you is a trifold card. The main image from the August Fairy DL stamp sheet, which is coloured with Graph'It and Promarkers. I also added some Baby Blue Liquid Pearls to the sky.  To make the closure, I coloured, fussy cut and popped a sunflower on some foam tape to tuck in the card edge. The fairy's wings are heat embossed in silver onto vellum and adhered to her shoulder.

I made the background for the card by stamping the fern frond from the August Fairy DL stamp sheet on to cream CS using TH Bundled Sage Distress Ink. The smaller sunflowers are from the August Fairy and the larger ones are from the Sunny Sunflowers A4 sheet. I coloured these with Graph'It markers, fussy cut and adhered them to the left flap of the card.  I heat embossed the silhouette in black.

On the inside, more fern fronds and a sentiment from Words Of Comfort And Cheer A5 sheet.

Challenges for this card:
Path of Positivity #15: Happiness - sunflowers, summer breeze, fairy in red dress and glittery wings looking serene and peaceful, leafy surrounding and the sentiment on the inside.... all of these spell happiness to me.
Sparkle & Sprinkle June Challenge: AG with Glitter, EP or Flocking

**********

For my second card, I'm featuring stamps from the June Fairy DL sheet, except for the grassy bits which is from the Wild Meadow A4 sheet. I wanted to create a background reminiscent of breaking dawn and blended these TH Distress Inks : Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage, Shabby Shutters, Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Dried Marigold and Rusty Hinge.

I stamped the silhouette of the fairy directly onto the inked background using VersaFine Onyx Black and added some Stardust Stickles on her wings. I stamped the word "Summer" with Memento Rhubarb Stalk. For a pop of colour, I coloured the butterfly from the July Fairy DL sheet with Promarkers, fussy cut and adhered it to the card.

I stamped the falling ivy using Versafine Olympia Green and the sunflowers with TH Rusty Hinge. For a little texture, I dotted some Daffodil Liquid Pearls.

On the inside, I stamped a few more sunflowers using TH Mustard Seed and a sentiment from Words Of Comfort And Cheer A5 sheet.

Challenges for this card:
Crafting Form The Heart #24: AG
Craft Your Passion #219: The Bold and The Beautiful

**********

That's all from me today. Must dash... a gazillion things to do and not enough hours in the day. Got to pick Rosie later this evening. She is having a few days of IV fluids ahead of her chemo on Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by today. For more inspiration, head on over to the Chocolate Baroque Design Team Blog. See y'all in blog land!

It's the first day of summer and of course it makes perfect sense that we should be crafting Christmas card.  The girls at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown, under the guidance of our lovely hostess, Louise of Cats, Cards and Cupcakes have made some adorable samples to inspire you. No patterned papers. I stamped the snowflakes onto some pale blue CS with VersaColor Silver
along with a little Stickles Stardust.

I stamped the trees with Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy, fussy cut it and added some

cutting and a big red bling for his nose. The greeting is also from the same set,

VersaColor Silver for the corner flourishes and Brilliance pearlescent Ivy for the
sentiment.

Polkadoodles #25: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Hello friends! Can you believe it's Friday already. The last time I did some proper carting was ... eerr... sometime last week! SO much to do, so little time but I managed to make this quick card for our mid-challenge inspiration over Polkadoodles.

The theme of our on-going challenge is "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". You don't have to include a rainbow in your project, you can if you want to but why not think outside the box and let your imagination soar.

Here's my take on the theme - a patchwork rainbow background for that summer in the country look. I was inspired by the song San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers in Your Hair) by Scott McKenzie...

The background papers are from the bumper Sugar Birdies Collection.  For embellishments,
I used flowers from Bonbon Belles and I finished the project with a few pink & blue blings.

The sentiment is also form the Bonbon Belles CD.

The image is a pre-coloured digi called Anya from the Fredericka Mini Collection.
I fussy cut her and popped her up on foam tape. LOVE the way her hair is flying
in the wind....

Here's the inside. Clearly Anya isn't just sitting about and thinking of you
for no good reason. :-)

A few challenges for this card:

Blogger's Challenge: Summertime
Crafty Catz #236: Stitching
Fairytale Challenge: Lazy Summer Days
Sister Act #62: AG Cards Only
Word Art Wednesday #137: AG Uplifting
Seize The Birthday: AG Birthdays Only
Milk Coffee: Summer Fun

Now it's over to you, my friends. Create a project - it can be any papercraft - based on the theme "Somewhere Over The Rainow" and link it up over at Polka Doodles Challenge blog by Noon (GMT) June 27th. The winner will receive their choice of 5 Digis from the Polkadoodles shop. The identity of this lucky person will be announced on Friday July 4th. So hurry and get crafting!

Rosie's News
Her blood-work is within the acceptable range and she's been given the all-clear for the 2nd cycle of Doxorubicin on June 26th.

Thanks for stopping by today. I'm nearly there with my backlog of visits and comments. Have a fruitful day, my friends! Summer starts tomorrow .... woooohoooo!

I'll leave you with Scott McKenzie, singing the original version of San Franscisco. The song was written by John Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas. (Don't make me feel old. Please say you remember these folks!)

Christmas Card Club #13: Penguins

Hello there! I'm back with another batch of Christmas cards. This festive collection is for the Christmas Card Club and our talented Carol of CM Designs's theme of choice is "Penguins". I decided to make a few simple mini cards to go with pressies. These gift cards measure 4"x4" and I'm sticking with traditional Crimbo colours.

The penguin is from CBS Let It Snow. The greeting is from CBS Mini Banners. I'm going for a snow globe look by placing the banner at the bottom of the die-cut circle. I've also stamped little snowflakes around the penguin using VersaMagic Sea Breeze and for the snowflakes on the card front I used VersaMark for a tone-on-tone effect.

Penguin: VersaFine Onyx Black; Accessories & Greeting: VersaColor Scarlet.
Embellishment: green bling

Penguin: VersaFine Onyx Black; Accessories & Greeting: VersaMagic Tea Leaf.
Embellishment: red bling

On the inside I stamped the greeting from CBS Signature Christmas in
VersaColor Cardinal and Memento Pine.

Ok... I only managed 2 for now but I'll be making a few more of these ... fingers crossed!

52 {C}CT June Colour Challenge

Another Saturday has rolled on by, folks. And that can only mean one thing ... time to play along with the girls at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown. It's week #2 and our lovely hostess, Louise of Cats, Cards and Cupcakes is giving you a choice of 3 Colours PLUS a Metallic of Choice. She's not insisting on metal (gold, silver, copper), as long as you use something shiny on your project she won't send you to the naughty step.

Our guest designer for the month - the talented Marie Flayer of NJ Stamping Queen - will be playing along too. Please stop by Marie's blog and gawk at her fabulous festive make.

It seems that our Louise was prompted by the summer heat and the strawberries that come with the season. Head on over to  52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown to see her cute photo inspiration. What a brilliant suggestion, Louise! Do strawberries work on a Christmas card? You tell me:

With a red card base, I'm going CAS with no patterned papers. For the border
I used CBS  Diagonal Stripes and Memento Pine. The banner greeting is from
CBS Christmas Cheer, stamped with VersaColor Scarlet.

The strawberries are from CBS Fruitilicious, stamped with TH Festive Berries and
VersaMagic Tea Leaves. Then I sprinkled some sparkly bits with silver and hologram
pieces. I think it works! What say you?

The sentiment and accents are form CBS Christmas Cheer

You'll find my festive berries over at these challenges:

Rosie's Update and Other News:
Rosie's appetite has improved but she's still not eating as well as she used to.We're going in for bloodwork today and that will decide if she is fit for the second cycle of chemo scheduled for next week. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

Other more exciting news: we have a new kitty! He's still a baby at 10 weeks and an absolute darling. He's proving to be a hit with Rosie too. He keeps her entertained with hours of play and she is amused by this fearless furball.  His name ... Richard Parker and he looks like this:

Richard Parker ... in a rare moment of zen!

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend! (I'm still behind with my commenting. Please bear with me. Rosie is taking up much of my attention right now but I will return your visits... promise! I am very grateful for your comments.)

Hello friends! Hope you're having fun with the new June release stamps from Chocolate Baroque. Today I'm showcasing the Briar Rose Butterfly A5 stamp sheet. Have you seem the images on this set? Oh so pretty and they make stunning summer projects, but I found out they are perfect for Christmas too!
